HERMENEUTICS/INDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY(2 CREDITS)
Hermeneutics is the study of the system of rules, principles and methods applied during interpretation and explanation. It is considered to be the art of exegesis and translation.

This class is designed to instruct students in the foundational principles and practices of Bible interpretation, providing a framework with which to view all Scripture. The inductive method of Bible study will be taught with attention paid to the various features of a text that contribute to the interpretative process.
Special emphasis will be given to the role of biblical inerrancy, inspiration, objective meaning, problems in Hermeneutics, and the nature of Scripture itself.

ACTS (3 CREDITS)*
The class studies the book of Acts exegetically. Attention is given to biblical principles exercised by the early church and how those same principles apply today. Importantly, emphasis is given to the role the Holy Spirit has in the building up of the Body of Christ. Students are encouraged to use Acts as an example on how to cultivate a Spirit-led and mission-driven relationship in the Lord.

ROMANS (3 CREDITS)*
The class is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Romans, a book regarded as the most systematic presentation of the doctrine of salvation in the Bible. Students will look carefully at how the saving life of Christ, through the work of the Holy Spirit, does transform lives.

EPHESIANS (2 CREDITS)
The objective in this class is to give a student a thorough working knowledge on the book of Ephesians, one of the prison epistles. A student will study the book verse-by-verse, which includes major doctrines presented by Paul. Students will see a glorious picture of Christ, the Head, and His Body, the Church.

COLOSSIANS (2 CREDITS)
This class is an exegetical study on the book of Colossians. Attention is given to the Lord Jesus Christ, the central theme of the book. Students will consider His majesty, pre-eminence, authority, sufficiency, and fullness that we might grow in faith concerning how to walk in His provisions for abundance of life! With the verse-by-verse study, you will have the opportunity to extensively correlate passages from other portions of Scripture.

I CORINTHIANS (2 CREDITS)
In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul demonstrates how the Gospel relates, redeems, and transforms culture. Paul addresses numerous topics such as schism, sexual immorality, marriage, singleness, idolatry, and disorder in public worship to name just a few. 1Corinthians shows that sanctification comes by faith in Christ alone.

II CORINTHIANS (2 CREDITS)
The purpose in this class is to study the history, context, and theology of Paul’s second letter to the Corinthian church. Paul wrote this letter to dispute false teachers and build up his readers. Emphasis is placed on the basic hermeneutical principles of observation, interpretation, correlation, and application. As a student, you can expect to gain an appreciation of Paul’s painful autobiography.

OT372 I & II SAMUEL / LIFE OF DAVID (2 CREDITS)

You will learn much about God and the type of person He chooses to work through from both the triumphs and the tragedies of these three men who helped shape the course of a nation and history.

Spring 2018

Look at this list of classes you could be studying beginning February 6, 2018

Genesis
Genesis (Greek for ‘Beginning‘) called Bereshith in Hebrew, meaning “In the Beginning”, the key to the entire Bible. The Book of Beginnings shows the origin of Creation, Man, Sin, Sacrifice, Worship, Languages, Races and Nations of the world and Redemption.

The Heart of God is to have continuous fellowship with His creation. When fellowship with man was broken because of sin, He demonstrates His love by revealing His plan to maintain continuous fellowship with Him-by the origin of sacrifice and offering. Genesis reveals the creation of the earth for the exclusive purpose of man’s existence, and revelation of His nature, “the Heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork.” Psalm 19:1

1 and 2 Samuel (Life of David)
David holds the unique title in scripture, wherein God said,”I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.” Acts 13:22 He was a shepherd, a type of Christ, a prophet, a warrior, a musician, a hymn writer, a notorious sinner, a lousy father, and yet one of the greatest leaders in the history of Israel.

In this class we want to take an in-depth look at this man with this unique title and learn what we can discover about God, about leadership, and about what it means for us to be a man or woman after God’s own heart. This will be an interactive class, combining lecture with spirited class discussion.

1 and 2 Kings
In this chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse study of the books of I and II Kings, you shall have an understanding of the main theme of the books and develop a working knowledge and application of the main character studies of some of the kings and prophets of Israel More importantly to see God work in and through people of the two divided kingdoms, Israel (Samaria) in the North, and Judah in the South.

1Corinthians
This class is a verse by verse study of the book 1Corinthians. This letter addresses the problems that plagued the Corinthian church and are still of great concern to the Church today: division, marital conflicts, sexual immorality, Christian liberty, spiritual gifts, money, and offended believers.

Romans
This class is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Romans, a book long regarded as the most systematic presentation of doctrine in the Bible. Students will look carefully at how the saving life of Christ, through the work of the Holy Spirit, can transform lives.

By the end of the course, students should be familiar with Paul’s Romans epistle and how it fits in with his other writings, especially Galatians. You should also have a greater understanding of such glorious truths as God’s sovereignty, the work of the Holy Spirit in matters of salvation, sanctification, pre-destination, justification, free will, grace and the law. The greatest goal, however, is for Jesus Christ to become more central in of your life.

Revelation
Through this verse by verse study of Revelation, we’ll explore the meaning of the Bible’s final book. We will discover great encouragement and hope as we see God’s plan for the world unfold today. Some of the topics we’ll investigate include the Rapture of the Church, the Tribulation and Great Tribulation, Armageddon, Christ’s Return, Millennium, and the Eternal State.

Inductive Bible Study
The way we read and understand the Bible affects the way we live. Since we make decisions based on how we understand the Bible, it is important that we read the Bible in a way that lead us to the right conclusions about God, ourselves, and the world we live in. In this course, you get to learn how to study the Bible for yourself, to learn to biblically interpret and apply the Bible soundly through a variety of Bible study methods that will prove relevant in the very fast-paced culture of today.

Between Us

I was awake at 1:30 am and surprised that He did wake me early to call on Him. I was just crying out to him about the natural uncertainty of things as I got to think about a lot of things, started to wonder how you will get here, the funds for the shipping, the house, the building and all…

It’s the peripheral expenses: fencing and taxes (for the property), registration, and the list went on…parading. Then the forgotten failure, of why and how the plan is now as it is…It is okay…you do not need to reply, it is my way of sounding off….

Reading my dearest’s note left for me on Skype, my heart sank and remembered the failures of my past. The should have’s, could have’s, began to flood my mind instantly. But God, who is faithful, and through His finished work in Christ Jesus, quickly reminded me that He is making a “new thing” in our lives.

How apt is it that through Colossians 3:2-3 where He says, “Set your mind on things above, not on the things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God,” is part of our Bible study this week. Such an encouragement could not come at all from the wisdom of men but from the heart of our Father in heaven.

Throughout the day, the Holy Spirit brings back to remembrance the beauty of His Word. He did through His written word and even through the radio. It would be easy for one such as I to fall into the trap of self pity, the Lord did not want me to take part in such thoughts. (Philippians 4:4-6)

Am I to look at the provision that is to come, or shall I look to Him? “To behold His beauty…(Psalm 27:4)” The answer is clear, He deserves nothing less than complete obedience to Him and Him alone. He knows what we need even before we ask Him (Matthew 6:8). He is growing me and my Nenita for His glory (John 14:13) for the work He has prepared for us.

Late this afternoon, Pastor Chuck Smith was on Acts 23:11, where he reminded me of when Paul was put in the barracks and when all seemed lost for the cause of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Lord stood by him, and said, “Be of good cheer (be of good courage)…”

James reminds us that, “…count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4. Praise the Lord.

Thank you Lord, that You are always with us. (Romans 8:28-39)

I love You Lord.

Thank You for the love Nenita and I have in You.

Pray always…

And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen [do]. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.
Matthew 6:5-8

Don’t know how to begin?

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.Romans 8:26

…I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting…1Timothy2:8

The Gospel

The Reason

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:16-18

The Promise

“…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction…for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
Romans 10:9-13

The Response

“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:3

“…Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.
John 3:5-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”
Romans 1:16
