HERMENEUTICS/INDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY(2 CREDITS)
Hermeneutics is the study of the system of rules, principles and methods applied during interpretation and explanation. It is considered to be the art of exegesis and translation.

This class is designed to instruct students in the foundational principles and practices of Bible interpretation, providing a framework with which to view all Scripture. The inductive method of Bible study will be taught with attention paid to the various features of a text that contribute to the interpretative process.
Special emphasis will be given to the role of biblical inerrancy, inspiration, objective meaning, problems in Hermeneutics, and the nature of Scripture itself.

ACTS (3 CREDITS)*
The class studies the book of Acts exegetically. Attention is given to biblical principles exercised by the early church and how those same principles apply today. Importantly, emphasis is given to the role the Holy Spirit has in the building up of the Body of Christ. Students are encouraged to use Acts as an example on how to cultivate a Spirit-led and mission-driven relationship in the Lord.

ROMANS (3 CREDITS)*
The class is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Romans, a book regarded as the most systematic presentation of the doctrine of salvation in the Bible. Students will look carefully at how the saving life of Christ, through the work of the Holy Spirit, does transform lives.

EPHESIANS (2 CREDITS)
The objective in this class is to give a student a thorough working knowledge on the book of Ephesians, one of the prison epistles. A student will study the book verse-by-verse, which includes major doctrines presented by Paul. Students will see a glorious picture of Christ, the Head, and His Body, the Church.

COLOSSIANS (2 CREDITS)
This class is an exegetical study on the book of Colossians. Attention is given to the Lord Jesus Christ, the central theme of the book. Students will consider His majesty, pre-eminence, authority, sufficiency, and fullness that we might grow in faith concerning how to walk in His provisions for abundance of life! With the verse-by-verse study, you will have the opportunity to extensively correlate passages from other portions of Scripture.

I CORINTHIANS (2 CREDITS)
In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul demonstrates how the Gospel relates, redeems, and transforms culture. Paul addresses numerous topics such as schism, sexual immorality, marriage, singleness, idolatry, and disorder in public worship to name just a few. 1Corinthians shows that sanctification comes by faith in Christ alone.

II CORINTHIANS (2 CREDITS)
The purpose in this class is to study the history, context, and theology of Paul’s second letter to the Corinthian church. Paul wrote this letter to dispute false teachers and build up his readers. Emphasis is placed on the basic hermeneutical principles of observation, interpretation, correlation, and application. As a student, you can expect to gain an appreciation of Paul’s painful autobiography.

OT372 I & II SAMUEL / LIFE OF DAVID (2 CREDITS)
I & II Samuel is an in-depth look into a time period in the nation of Israel when they moved from being a nation that had God as their king, to a nation that would be ruled by a man. These two historic books of the Bible give us a clear view of three individuals who played a major part in the history of the nation, King Saul, King David and the prophet Samuel.

You will learn much about God and the type of person He chooses to work through from both the triumphs and the tragedies of these three men who helped shape the course of a nation and history.

The Book is divided into two sections: first, the superiority of the Son in His person and work (1:1-10:18); and second, the practical application of the superiority of the Son in the lives of believers (10:19-13:25)…we study these sections, chapter by chapter, verse-by-verse, “with a true heart in full assurance of faith…” (Heb 10:22).

“Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Hebrews 13:20-21

Come and see…join us, take Jesus up on His Word:
Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

What Is…

Lay upon me Thy easy yoke of self-forgetfulness that through it I may find rest.” A.W.Tozer

Cassie-starting-young
A book I read when I was a wee-teen, The First Deadly Sin by Lawrence Saunders, always comes to mind when I am challenged in my everyday walk. Odd as it may seem to you, but in it, the author refers to Pride as the first deadly sin. I never forgot that.

It is, as the Bible tells us from the very beginning the cause of all the mayhem in this world. “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall,Proverbs 16:18 one of the early proverbs my younger daughter memorized when she was in Kindergarten…and I with her, fulfilled 100 verses that year.

I find this last line of Tozer’s prayer an easy solution to remember when my “self-life” demands to rise. For I was in fact, the queen of pride…still am.

If I do not purposely begin each day acknowledging God and who He is in my life, I know that I will rest on my self-reliance very quickly. I also have come to realize that life without God first, God second, and God third every day that I am awake, is a labor in self-love.

It is insane to live today like there is no tomorrow, musing in self-indulgence! It is the very thing that I despise! Therefore my need for His grace to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit every moment, every single day becomes the cry of my heart…all of 86,400 seconds…525,600 minutes.

His rest is all I desire. “Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
