Arise…

My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.”
1John 3:18

…in deed

In Colossians 1, I learned that it is Jesus who presents us holy, blameless and above reproach before the Father. So therefore, all we get to do every morning is disciplining ourselves to offer our body parts alongside His presentation. God sees Jesus in us. Isn’t this the grandest truth!

I get to partake of God’s remembrance during the teachers’ devotional time after school at CLC everyday. He reveals much to me…to each one of us. The children are children, each one seeking attention. I am in awe that it was the way of the children with Jesus.

Do you remember how Jesus is always surrounded by children? How He reminds you and me that faith must needs be like that of little children. I am so humbled, and because I now know each one of these 4th, 5th, & 6th Graders by name, I get to call them by their first names.

His ahavah(love) and shalom(peace) towards me overwhelms me.

“Fear not for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are mine.”
Isaiah 43:1b

…in truth

The Bible Study in Biñan got a kick start and I thank God so very much. I know it is an answered prayer…it just never occurred to me that I will be His sent one and that it would happen last Saturday (August 11). My honey needs to be here.

How beautiful it is to be discipling the family…my own brothers, their wives, their children and my own son partaking. Though my flesh suggests it is a toil to do, it is an hour drive is all from where I am staying, my Father tells me to go. He directs my steps continually.

Do place it in your hearts to pray for their “growing in His grace, being filled in the knowledge of His will, in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, to lead a life worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, and giving thanks to the Father who has qualified them to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.” Colossians 1

Miriam suggests I should just stay through Sunday so that I may be able to give them some of my time. I see the wisdom in it but I will take it one weekend at a time and trust God to direct my steps. All in His care. I surrendered in peace and let go of the original plan to stay close to Quezon City.

He says let’s go to Dasmariñas on weekdays, let’s go to Biñan on Saturdays, I will wait and see how He wants to handle my Sundays. I was really blessed to be visiting the Church of God in Jabez last Sunday. Do pray for what God has planned in as far as the role of this local church in seeing to the building of My Father’s House Bible College in Tagaytay City.

Between Us

I was awake at 1:30 am and surprised that He did wake me early to call on Him. I was just crying out to him about the natural uncertainty of things as I got to think about a lot of things, started to wonder how you will get here, the funds for the shipping, the house, the building and all…

It’s the peripheral expenses: fencing and taxes (for the property), registration, and the list went on…parading. Then the forgotten failure, of why and how the plan is now as it is…It is okay…you do not need to reply, it is my way of sounding off….

Reading my dearest’s note left for me on Skype, my heart sank and remembered the failures of my past. The should have’s, could have’s, began to flood my mind instantly. But God, who is faithful, and through His finished work in Christ Jesus, quickly reminded me that He is making a “new thing” in our lives.

How apt is it that through Colossians 3:2-3 where He says, “Set your mind on things above, not on the things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God,” is part of our Bible study this week. Such an encouragement could not come at all from the wisdom of men but from the heart of our Father in heaven.

Throughout the day, the Holy Spirit brings back to remembrance the beauty of His Word. He did through His written word and even through the radio. It would be easy for one such as I to fall into the trap of self pity, the Lord did not want me to take part in such thoughts. (Philippians 4:4-6)

Am I to look at the provision that is to come, or shall I look to Him? “To behold His beauty…(Psalm 27:4)” The answer is clear, He deserves nothing less than complete obedience to Him and Him alone. He knows what we need even before we ask Him (Matthew 6:8). He is growing me and my Nenita for His glory (John 14:13) for the work He has prepared for us.

Late this afternoon, Pastor Chuck Smith was on Acts 23:11, where he reminded me of when Paul was put in the barracks and when all seemed lost for the cause of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Lord stood by him, and said, “Be of good cheer (be of good courage)…”

James reminds us that, “…count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4. Praise the Lord.

Thank you Lord, that You are always with us. (Romans 8:28-39)

I love You Lord.

Thank You for the love Nenita and I have in You.

O woman, great is your faith!

“Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire…”
Matthew 15:28

Do you remember the mother of the baby with hydrocephalus who came just in time of my arrival at Yakal in Biñan the past Saturday?

Aleli Santiago and the other families who live in Kaingin, Santa Rosa apparently do not get relief or any type of help from the government. Perhaps there is not even a church that has gone to do compassion services.

You recall her witness, she wasn’t supposed to be there but her feet brought her back in that street. It was appointed by God that she will come to know who His Son truly is, the One True God who can forgive sins and bring salvation. Praise His Name!

Now Aleli knows peace because of Jesus. You should have been there to see the witness of the new born spirit in her. I saw His peace on her face. Her whole countenance was changed. You must know that she waited for me to get settled at least, she could have decided to leave. In the noon day sun!

That was the first day the sun came out after almost 10 days of rain. I saw a sense of urgency in her. Of course we didn’t have a clue what the Holy Spirit had in mind.

Do you know that I almost missed that opportunity because I was focused in my own comfort? I was barely out of the Avanza and here she is begging for mercy because their house was flooded and they have no food. But for the love of God, I couldn’t just shoo her away because she was quietly persistent. And now we all know why! God wants to save her and show His miracle.

I believe that Angelica is miraculously healed from hydrocephalus even whilst we were praying.

Over the next three days His Spirit led me to pray and believe that she is healed. So when He led me to fast and pray for her, the Lord was also leading me to pray for the teachers here who are always thrown darts to doubt that Jesus is our Divine Physician and that they can run to Him first!

He gave me Isaiah 65:24, “It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.

Spiritual service…

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.”
Romans 12:1

It looks like I’ve been given the chance to get caught up with my writing today. Romans 12:1-2 is indeed a good discipline for all of us.

I am thankful in how the Lord used Pastor Dave Shirley for the lessons I received in the multiple classes I was privileged to take during my term at CCBC (and much to my regret, if I had known him sooner I would have taken all of the classes he taught).

They have been wonderful reminders from the Holy Spirit of working out our salvation with fear and trembling through the presentation of our bodies as living sacrifices for this is our reasonable spiritual service. And for a season, I get to pass on what I have been taught to the children and teachers here at CLC in Dasmariñas, Cavite in the Philippines.

God is truly the Lord of the harvest. I am just always exceedingly grateful that I get to be His instrument. It is all about presentation of our bodies. When our eyes, mouth, ears, nose, hands and feet, our whole body, the heart most of all, are offered to Him as a sacrifice…you can be sure that it will be living in Christ.

The Greek word for present, parastesai, denotes a coming alongside. We get the word Paraclete, the Holy Spirit who comes alongside every believer.

In essence Paul tells us that Jesus wants us to present ourselves alongside Him. It is so cool!

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2

Prayer & Fasting: Week 3

…Yet they seek Me daily, And delight to know My ways, As a nation that did righteousness, And did not forsake the ordinance of their God. They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; They take delight in approaching God…
Isaiah 58:2

August 15

Wednesday is chapel day so I was able to take pictures. Last night I spent two hours just updating…the usual stories of the day. It has been a few days since my last “story telling” through word pictures.

Did I tell you I was called to sub for Grades 4, 5, 6 Pilipino class on Monday? Three teachers called in due to an illness of some sort, personally or that of a family member. Since I’ve arrived, the woes I hear have been all related to health…and the Holy Spirit showed me why and what He requires.

On Tuesday I was led to fast and pray. What I am seeing, and what I had seen in the past, brings me to believe that the root cause of sickness and diseases, family/relational problems and financial difficulties, and much poverty in the most of the Two-Thirds World is lack of faith. The absence of a genuine prayer life. We cannot discount the fact that the same holds true for the Western World.

But is it really a sin to doubt? When our faith is lacking, do we not doubt then the omnipotence, omniscience, and faithfulness of God? The Bible commands us to pray without ceasing. James tells us to count it all joy when we are faced with trials of every kind knowing that the testing of our faith produces perseverance.”

…Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
Isaiah 58:8

Paul exhorts that we are to rejoice in Him always; and with thanksgiving we are to present our petitions before His throne. And the peace of God which passes human understanding will guard our hearts in Christ Jesus. When there is doubt, peace is absent. Know Jesus, know peace. No Jesus, no peace.

God desires that His people should fast and pray according to Isaiah 58.

Amidst the Storm

“Then they cry out to the LORD in their trouble, And He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, So that its waves are still.” Psalm 107:28-29

Letter between Nenita and Jackie of Harvest Christian Fellowship, Quezon City.

To Nenita:

Hi Ate(big sister),

I apologize for not replying sooner. We just got our electricity back yesterday and I’m now just using a prepaid internet card to access my emails.

From Monday night to Thursday evening, our place was submerged in floodwaters by 6 feet. Kuya(brother) Juni, his house was submerged by at least 8 or 10 feet. Yun van po nila(Their van) submerged din (also), which would require big repairs. There are 3-4 other families from church severely affected by the floods. We’re just now getting back on track after being trapped for so long. We are thankful the Lord protected everyone. I, for one, minimized my movement so as not to induce contractions, baka mapaanak po ako bigla (I might suddenly give birth). I am due to give birth anytime soon.

We’re glad safe po kayo dyan(you are safe where you are), Ate. Ano po ang(What is your) plan niyo moving forward, by saying di po muna kayo sa QC area (Too bad you cannot be in Quezon City for now)? Does that mean we won’t see you in church for the time being?

We agree with you it is the Lord who provides. Where He leads He will provide.

We continue to pray for the Lord’s leading regarding the Bible College.

God bless us all!
Armand and Jackie

To Jackie:

How is everyone, Jackie?

I am sorry to hear all this flood stories. We have been just praying over all the towns and cities affected by the calamity. I have sent reports to the church in the States so they can pray and ask God for mercy. I myself have been holed up in the school apartment due to the inclement weather for three days. I will do what I do best and that is to keep on interceding for the Church to be united and serve each other’s needs together and not separately.

It saddens me to see what I am seeing and experiencing for the first time. Man’s depravity does all these. We pray for God’s mercy and fresh outpouring of His Spirit that there will be revival in the country. Repentance…need to be realized by every believer.

I was in Biñan on Saturday. God had me start a Bible study for the family I have there. It is His plan again, an answered prayer. It was very nice to be used in this way. God is truly pleased. Two of my brother’s homes were ravaged waist deep by the flooded river and they didn’t even let me know. Please include them in your prayers too.

So there you have it, I will be driving to Biñan every Saturday to teach them how to fall in love with His Word. There are two photos in a following mail for you to see them and the woman, Aleli Sandoval who was saved by God’s love just when I arrived from Dasmariñas. It was a beautiful testimony of God’s appointment…her salvation and I got to lead her. Her story is for another day. Pray for her faith to grow, that her one year old baby Angelica who is hydro-cephalic will be healed and God will receive glory.

You are right my little sister…it is to trust His Word. He will build it… Also, it teaches me to re-start a life of utter dependence in His care and provision in all things. I know how it is to have much and how to have little. I am content where He has me, in Him. He is my All in all.

It is my desire to stay in QC for at least two weeks, even a month, and get to know all of you…but God has set up for me a camp where He is providing everything and not only that, I am being poured out here as an offering. God is using me in His ministry to the teachers and to the children. I will see you from time to time when the Lord permits.

I would hope to be there for the Pastors Conference so I can meet with P. John Michaels and the other pastors too…

I have another sister in the Lord who is..part of this Christian Montessori here in Dasmariñas. She has been asking me to help her…She has offered me this apartment which is in campus and in the beginning I was striving to get based close to QC but God had me pegged for this work even while we were fasting and praying for the Bible College two years ago. He is Sovereign. He is faithful. He knows what’s best.

When there is a struggle, when there is striving, we all know there’s flesh involved. Wanting to be in QC is my spirit mingled with flesh. God will work out the best time for us to huddle.

I am confident that He will be glorified. I hope you had a beautiful worship service and that our Father was pleased by the services all over the world. I had a wonderful time with the Jabez church family in Dasmariñas .

It brings me great joy to meet with the kapatiran (brethren) all over the world. This is the heart of missions. The Church as one big family of believers who do not know each other apart from the blood of Jesus that unites us and I get to meet them as the Holy Spirit directs me.

May you continue to grow in His grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and let me know when you get tired of my long letters…I hear a new typhoon is threatening the land again, Helen of Troy.

Dear Jesus rebuke the typhoon spirits that are thrown our way and bring peace and healing through a revival in this country that you caused us to love. Amen.

Grace like Rain – 08/07/12 Part 2

Lesson Learned: For it is God who is enabling you both to will and to work according to His good pleasure (purpose). Do everything without arguing and grumbling that you maybe as light and shining stars in the darkness.

“…that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.”
Phil 3:10-11

There is no other joy that can equal when our Heavenly Father uses me to be salt and light in this world we call life. To be privileged to share the beauty of sharing the Gospel of His love.

8/7/12 @ 0246

Dear family,

Today is a no school day. The rain hasn’t let up and the forecast for Friday is there will be 5 storms coming our way again. The flooded areas of Metro Manila seem to be pictures of third world countries, it is almost surreal for me to be here. I have no regrets but a simple and quiet joy knowing what is written in His book, “He who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it”…I thank you Leilani for your encouragement to me, I got teary-eyed reading the E-card you sent to me today, which I didn’t get to open till 30 minutes ago…

Yesterday was a full day! It was delightful to get my feet wet teaching children again. I had thought that my children’s ministry days are over but not so according to my Father. It isn’t over until He says it is over! I was glad to step into it knowing it is He who had orchestrated the whole thing. You are right to say that He is preparing us for the “beyond what we can think, dream or imagine” dimension of His love. God is truly great!

We had the devotional study on 1Samuel4 last night in the house. It was so nice to be around the sisters who has the love for our Father. We shared so much that we perhaps have extended our usual time. I had offered them the opportunity to have a monthly women’s prayer sleep-over while God allows me to be here and I want to ask you if that will be alright with you. My heart goes out to sharing to them the value of intercessory prayer and I am hoping that they will truly be blessed to experience a life of prayer, for others more than themselves. Lyn did a wonderful lesson on the chapter. Susana did the prayer at the end and I volunteered to write the prayer requests and of course, I did share some ears of corn. I was blessed too much I didn’t take a shower!

I taught Filipino, can you believe it? Everything became a review for me as we learned about subjects, predicates, conjunctions and clauses. I had to ask them what the words in Tagalog are in the English language, so I can be sure about the lesson. It was a lot of fun and I got to teach, the 4th graders only, at least for now, how to pray in sign language. The 5th and 6th graders I did twice, so all together I had 5 classes with just a lunch break! Dear God, teachers need a lot of prayers for what they do….and a lot of them are having health issues…

Please be in prayer for the staff of Christianhood Learning Center in Dasmarinas, Cavite; for the whole of the Philippines that I may be used for His Glory and that we may go obediently where the Holy Spirit leads us during this rainy season of His grace.
